Is sports betting legal in PA?
Online sports betting is legal in PA. Pennsylvania passed a bill regulating both sports betting and online casinos. A number of casinos now offer retail sports betting, with online betting apps launching on May 31, 2019.
All of the major bases are covered in terms of markets, ranging from the major professional leagues all the way down to niche sports. The same holds true for wager types, as users have options ranging from moneyline to live betting and all points in between. We’ll cover what PA sportsbooks have to offer in both categories in full detail in a bit.
Top Pennsylvania online sports betting sites
Pennsylvania has plenty of options when it comes to online sportsbooks. Here’s the latest list of online sportsbooks as of January 2021:
DraftKings Sportsbook / Meadowlands Race and Casino
DraftKings Sportsbook has been a huge hit here in PA, accounting for nearly 25% of total online sports betting handle recently. Once you take the platform for a test drive, it’s not too hard to see why users have been flocking in this direction.
It’s a slick offering with plenty of bells and whistles, but at the same time it’s easy to navigate your way around. There are a number of great functions on the app, including a live betting feature that is among the best in the business.
DraftKings isn’t shy on the promotional front, either. New users who sign up via our exclusive links are entitled to a boatload of goodies, and there are always some enticing regular promos going on. This is a top app for PA sports betting that’s more than worthy of your business.

FanDuel Sportsbook / Valley Forge Casino
This is another company that has really knocked it out of the park in the Pennsylvania sports betting market. According to reports from the Gaming Control Board, FanDuel was responsible for more than 40% of the total online handle in the state.
Nearly half of registered sports bettors in the state just can’t be wrong, and we can confirm that they’re not. FanDuel has a platform that’s both simple to use and packed with features. The layout is fantastic, with everything you could possibly need just a click or swipe away.
If you sign up for an account via our exclusive links, you’ll get to place your first bet in risk-free fashion up to $1,000. That’s a huge incentive, but FanDuel doesn’t stop there, as it’s constantly doling out odds boosts and other promotional offerings that give you lots of bang for your buck.

BetMGM Sportsbook / Hollywood Casino
BetMGM Sportsbook is up and running in several states to date, and is one of the leading sports betting apps on the US market.
The app is up and running as of Dec. 2020, and it has been well-received overall. The platform is solid, but there are some navigation quirks that take a little getting used to. BetMGM somewhat makes up for that with a deep bench of market offerings.
While a lot of operators offer plenty of niche sports, BetMGM goes the extra mile. This is a company that has its sights set on being a major player in US sports betting, so optimism is high that there will be plenty of exciting things to come.
- Retail license: Hollywood Casino Morgantown
- Opening date: 2021
Unlike other entities that have partnered up with brick-and-mortar casinos, BetMGM is taking a different path toward Pennsylvania market entry. The company snagged a license with Hollywood Casino Morgantown, which is expected to open in 2021.
Unibet Sportsbook / Mohegan Sun Pocono
Unibet doesn’t have a huge brand name here in the US just yet, but that’s starting to change. The global gambling operator is going all in with sports betting, and Pennsylvania is among the markets in which it has hit the ground running.
The mobile interface is on the basic side. If you like a lot of flash and noise, Unibet might not be for you. However, those just looking for a clean layout that allows them to get down to business in a hurry are in luck.
Unibet has a great handle on live betting and features it prominently, so you won’t have to do a ton of hunting and pecking just to find what you’re looking for. That’s just one of several features that make Unibet a mobile destination worth visiting.
- Retail license: Mohegan Sun Pocono
- Address: 1280 PA-315, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702
A full-service bar and 28-foot video screen are among the amenities waiting for you at the sportsbook. There’s comfortable seating for you to kick back and relax, and betting terminals to handle business. Bearing the Unibet logo, you’ll find it right off the Mohegan Sun casino floor.
Fox Bet Sportsbook / Mount Airy Casino
Fox Bet has launched to much fanfare and lots of hype on the tube. Impressively, the PA online sportsbook has managed to live up to it. This isn’t just some simple book with a fancy name on it, but rather the real deal that has delivered.
The most recent sports betting revenue numbers from PA show that Fox Bet attracts close to 10% of total online handle. While there’s work to do to catch up with the big players, it’s a great start for a platform that’s still in its infancy.
Fox Bet offers a ton of ongoing promos, many of which are tied in with network personalities. They’re fun bets that attract users, but many also offer the potential for some serious returns. New and experienced bettors alike are finding that Fox Bet lives up to the hype.
- Retail license: Mount Airy Casino
- Address: 312 Woodland Road, Mt. Pocono, PA 18344
The sportsbook at Mount Airy Casino features luxury lounge seating. You won’t miss a minute of the action with 40 TVs right in front of you. There’s also an in-house bar that’s open for business throughout the busy weekend.
BetRivers Sportsbook / Rivers Pittsburgh
The BetRivers brand is a big deal here in PA, so the sportsbook has a lot of expectations to live up to. It manages to do just that and then some, so it’s no surprise that this has become a popular destination for sports bettors in the state.
BetRivers features a clean layout that’s easy to get around. You can zero in on the markets you like, find the bets you want to place, and get everything on the slip and submit with minimal effort. That’s how it should be, but not every operator makes it so easy.
This is one that does. BetRivers also wants you to come back often, so it offers up one of the top rewards programs for sports bettors to take advantage of. Users who create an account with our exclusive links will find even more to get excited about.

Caesars Sportsbook / Harrah’s Philadelphia
In the brick-and-mortar world of casinos, Caesars is a go-to destination that knows how to treat its guests right. The sportsbook bearing that name is aiming to do the same thing for online and mobile bettors, and it’s off to a great start.
The Caesars Sportsbook platform is really easy to use. The layout isn’t quite as fancy as other operators, but don’t mistake that for meaning that the PA online sports betting app isn’t up to snuff. It absolutely is, and you’ll find all of the markets and bet types you could ask for.
Customers have a number of funding options to choose from, as well as several ways to contact support if anything happens to come up. After you click through on our exclusive links to create an account, you’re going to find a lot to love at Caesars.

Parx Sportsbook has teamed up with Kambi, an international operator that has been around the block several times. The result has been a solid mobile platform that is available for both iOS and Android users.
Users who are also looking to play some casino games will be rather intrigued, as there’s a shared wallet that they can use on both sides. Parx has a wide range of betting markets and all of the wager types you would expect, so take the time to check it out.

BetAmerica Sportsbook / Presque Isle Downs
- Launch date: December 2019
- Bonus offer: None at this time
A member of the Churchill Downs family, BetAmerica is a familiar name in the world of gambling with a presence in online casino games and horse betting. The platform has also joined the crowded sports betting marketplace in a handful of spots, including here in PA.
On the plus side, accessing all three segments of the gaming trifecta are a piece of cake on BetAmerica, as there are dedicated links to each. Now for the bad news: The company isn’t quite as generous on the bonus front as other operators are.
Overall, the platform is pretty solid, but nothing that’s going to knock your socks off. You can get in and place your bets quickly and easily, but if you’re in the market for something extra from your sports betting apps, shopping around is the best course of action.
- Retail license: Presque Isle Downs
- Address: 8199 Perry Highway, Erie, PA 16509
Presque Isle Downs & Casino features live horse racing action on select dates in the summer and fall. You’ll also find a BetAmerica retail sportsbook on site. It’s located near the poker room and features dozens of HDTVs and self-serve betting kiosks.
Barstool Sportsbook / Hollywood Casino
- Launch date: Coming in 2020
- Bonus offer: To be determined
While this app hasn’t launched yet, the buzz has been growing for some time. Barstool is a sports media company with a huge reach and massive social media following. It is teaming up with Penn National Gaming for the highly anticipated release.
Since it’s not out yet, we haven’t been able to get a firsthand look. However, here’s what we can say: Penn National is a top-notch operator elsewhere, so we expect it’ll be more of the same with mobile betting.
As for Barstool, while it’s not for everyone, it has been a massive hit in its target market. That should translate into it becoming a top destination for sports bettors as long as the app delivers as we expect it to.
- Retail license: Hollywood Casino
- Address: 777 Hollywood Blvd., Grantville, PA 17028
Penn National also has live horse racing action on select dates throughout the year. The retail sportsbook can be found on the second floor of the casino, right next to the Skybox Sports Bar. Amenities include a dedicated wall for TVs and self-serve and teller options for betting.
