Welcome to the start of the conference finals and the conclusion of the second round. Sunday features Game 7 between the Hawks and 76ers and the first game of the Western Conference finals. Yahoo Sports’ Minty Bets has the advice that you need.
All odds via BetMGM.
Let’s start with the final game of the second round of the playoffs. The Hawks and Sixers tip off at 8 p.m. ET and the winner plays the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference finals.
The Sixers forced a Game 7 with their win in Game 6 and are significant favorites at home again. That didn’t work out too well last time; Philly had a huge second-half lead that disappeared in Game 5 as Atlanta mounted an incredible comeback.
The Hawks are 4-7 against the spread in their last 11 road games. The Hawks are 10 games above .500 against the spread overall this year, but are just 20-22 against the spread on the road in 2020-21.
The Sixers are 6-3 against the spread in their last nine home games. Philly is eight games over .500 against the spread all season and is a whopping 33-9 at home against the spread.
The Sixers’ daunting record at home against the spread isn’t deterring Yahoo Sports’ Minty Bets from taking the Hawks. She likes their chances of covering after two wins in Philadelphia already and the Sixers’ myriad issues.
“I’ll take the road dog plus the points and watch for a possible outright upset,” she said.
Prop bet we like: Seth Curry over 16.5 points (-105)
This is not the Game 1 we all envisioned a week ago in a potential Clippers vs. Suns conference finals matchup.
The Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard is out for Game 1 with the knee injury he suffered against the Utah Jazz in Game 4 of that series and the Suns’ Chris Paul is out because of the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols. There’s no timeline for either player’s return.
The Suns are still favored by five points without Paul because of Leonard’s absence after the Clippers were able to beat the Jazz twice without their star. The Clippers are 5-2-1 against the spread as the underdog in the playoffs so far this season and the Suns have covered in five straight games when they are the favorite.
Minty Bets thinks Leonard’s absence will hurt the Clippers more than Paul’s absence hurts the Suns, especially after the rest Phoenix has gotten after sweeping Denver.
“I’ll be watching for a blowout game in favor of the Phoenix Suns,” she said.
Prop bet we like: Paul George under 29.5 points (-110)
