Maryland’s frontcourt just got a lot better.
Saturday morning, former Georgetown center Qudus Wahab announced via Twitter that he has committed to Maryland. He spent the last two seasons with the Hoyas and put up big numbers during the 2020-21 season.
Wahab averaged 12.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game for the Hoyas, which finished the year with a 13-13 record. Georgetown earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big East Tournament.

Wahab appeared in all 26 games for the Hoyas and recorded 8 double-doubles on the season. He scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Georgetown’s loss to Colorado in the NCAA Tournament. Wahab also hit double-digit point totals in 19 games.
The 6-foot-11 sophomore has played in 58 games at Georgetown and will have three years of eligibility to use with the Terrapins. He joins a Maryland squad that ended the 2020-21 season with a 17-14 record and a 9-11 mark in B1G play.
Maryland could a bigger presence on the interior heading into next season, and Wahab should fill that role perfectly in College Park.
