The Horseshoe Casino is located in Hammond, Ind., and is owned by Caesars Entertainment. Horseshoe is known for having the largest number of slots in the Chicagoland area and being the biggest casino in the area.
The poker room is also the closest to greater Chicago, which brings in a lot of action. The total property is over 400,000 square feet, featuring a sportsbook, casino, hotel and concert venue. When you see the name Caesars, you know you will get quality service with great aesthetics.
Caesars purchased the property in 2004 when it was Harrah’s Entertainment. A completely new boat was built over a two-year time span, and it opened in 2008.
Promotions
Caesars has a lot of promotions in all of its casinos. The $1 Million NFL pick ’em promotion is about to come to an end. Use your Caesars rewards card to pick NFL games each week. It has weekly prizes totaling $1,500. Total prizes add up to $1,000,000, and you can win a trip to the Super Bowl just for being a member and picking NFL games.
The Horseshoe in Hammond also ran a $40,000 jackpot promotion. For every jackpot hit from Oct. 1-Dec. 31, players received an entry for a chance at $40,000 in prizes, including a BMW X-1. It usually runs a similar promotion every quarter.
Gaming
Horseshoe has branded itself on the best odds and the highest limits. The Hammond location doesn’t disappoint, with 100x on craps and limits up to $100,000 on baccarat.
There are over 100 table games to choose from, and Le Chang, the Asian game area, puts the rest of the casinos to shame. The high-limit room features $25,000 limits on almost every game except baccarat. This is where you will find the highest rollers in all of the Midwest.

The Big 6 game is about as simple as gambling gets. It is a big wheel where you can bet on each section. This is a great game for someone who doesn’t want to play slots and is intimidated by the other table games.
Poker room
The Midwest’s largest poker room features 34 different tables. It offers the main types of poker and limits from big to small.
Horseshoe Hammond also has a high-limit poker room called Benny’s Back Room. Original Horseshoe founder Benny Binion is the namesake, and it is reserved for big bettors only. The room hosts World Series of Poker qualifying events and tournaments on a daily basis.
Slots
Horseshoe’s other claim to fame is having the largest number of slots in the Chicagoland area. There are over 3,000 slot machines to choose from and over 1,500 penny slots. The area also features 300 video poker machines.
Again, if you are a high roller, it has slot machines that have $1,000 minimum bets, which is simply unheard of. With so many slots to choose from, your favorite game is most likely at the Horseshoe.

Sportsbook
When naming a sportsbook, you don’t have to get too cute as you want people to know what it is. Horseshoe Hammond wasn’t trying to confuse anyone as their sportsbook is simply named The Book.
The 5,300-square-foot space is loaded with TVs, couches and chairs. The 85-inch televisions above the betting terminals add a great experience when wanting to watch the games.
Caesars will eventually launch a mobile betting app in Indiana, but it does not have one for now. Our biggest complaint is that it does not have a lot of restaurant seating if you wanted to enjoy a meal while watching the game.
Rewards program
Caesars Rewards is one of the better programs in the state. With its seven casinos throughout Indiana, you can always find a gambling destination that rewards you.
Caesars has also recently partnered with TS rewards so you can move your points back and forth between the two programs. The rewards program will get you discounts at all Caesars properties, and you can even attach a credit card to earn points while you dine, shop or stay.

Online gaming
Currently, it does not have a mobile app, but Caesars has already stated one is in the works. We expect this to be one of the better apps due to the Caesars name, and there will be a lot of promotion with welcome bonuses when you sign up.
Dining
With all the space, it only has four restaurants to choose from, meaning it is sometimes hard to get in, especially on weekends. Prices range from very affordable for the Foo Noodle Bar, to upscale dining at Jack Binion’s Steakhouse.
Foo Noodle Bar
The Le Chang Asian gaming area houses the Foo Noodle Bar. This is an authentic Asian dining experience with dim sum, congee, noodles and everything you would expect. The food is super affordable and delicious. This is our choice when eating at the Horseshoe.

Village Square Buffet
Horseshoe’s everywhere have always offered a great dining experience. This buffet offers six different stations featuring Asian, American Heritage, Italian, Latin, soup and salad bar, and a great dessert area.
The buffet overlooks Lake Michigan to give award-winning scenery to go with a buffet that has won food industry awards time after time. Price is usually $22.99, but it does go up on specialty nights. Rewards members receive special pricing.

Jack Binnion’s Steak
Jack Binnions’ Steak is one of Chicagoland’s most renowned restaurants. With the view of Lake Michigan coupled with some of the best food you will ever eat, this is an experience not to be missed.
With that being said, you will definitely pay for the experience, but if you are looking for a special treat, the food is simply exquisite.
The restaurant has also won many awards for the great wine selection. Every cut of beef is hand-selected and trimmed to perfection.

The Eatery
The Eatery is the newest dining area and contains four dining options. You will find something to eat at the four locations.
Fresh
Fresh is the deli place inside The Eatery. Salads, wraps and sandwiches fill the menu, and there is always a daily soup to choose from.

This is a coffeehouse on steroids. Get true Italian roast coffee and pastries.

H Burger
This 24/7 dining experience is the closest you will get to bar food at the Horseshoe. The burgers are delicious, and they serve breakfast from 6 to 10 am every day.
360 Pizza
The handmade pizzas can be purchased by the slice or as a whole pizza. The brick-fired pizza would make any Chicagoan proud.

Entertainment
The Venue was added when it rebuilt the area from 2006-2008. It is a 90,000-square-foot space that can seat around 2,500 normally but can be set up to house 3,400 people for certain shows.
The Horseshoe hosts comedians, bands and small jazz festivals. Smashing Pumpkins, Alicia Keys and a lot of other big-time performers have graced the stage at The Venue.
There are also two bar/nightclubs on property. The Sixth Street Bar is a great place to grab a craft beer right in the casino. Push is located directly in the center of the casino and gets kicked up a notch later in the night to give a nightclub feel.
