Furthermore, BetMGM offers one of the broadest selections of online sports betting in Iowa. There are many promos and bonuses, including a rewards program, weekly challenges and specials, early cashout, and bet edit.

In terms of the sign-on bonus, the company offers up to $600 risk-free first bet. If you lose your bet, you will receive that amount in Freebets.

Something we should mention is that users have reported crashes or slowdowns.

  • Available on: iOS, Android, web, retail
  • Legal states: CO, DC, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ, NV, VA, TN, WV

William Hill was the first of the Iowa sportsbooks to go live. One of the largest sportsbooks in the world, it was founded in the UK in 1934, employing over 12,500 people. The company entered the US market in 2012 in Nevada and has expanded to several other states.

Recently the William Hill became Caesars Sportsbook after the merger with Caesars Entertainment, one of the largest casino operators in the US.

To celebrate, the company is currently offering the highest sign-on bonus in Iowa, up to $5000 risk-free first bet. We should note, that is the only promo the sportsbook is presently having.

Furthermore, William Hill or Caesars Sportsbook is the most casinos in Iowa, open until midnight in many of them.

Pros

  • + Weekly specials
  • + Trusted and experienced
  • + In many casinos
  • + Highest signing bonus

Cons

  • No promos outside the sign-on bonus

FanDuel Iowa Sports Betting Review

star10

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Diamond Jo casinos
  • Available on: iOS, Android, web, retail
  • Legal states: CO, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV
  • What sets it apart: super-fast app and fantasy sports

FanDuel started with fantasy sports in 2009. In 2018, it launched its sportsbook, which is one of the biggest in the US. It’s live in ten states, and FanDuel Iowa has been live since September 2020.

The app is very fast, user-friendly, and is highly rated on the app stores. Additionally, withdrawals are very fast as well. FanDuel’s experience with fantasy sports has helped the sportsbook to run an excellent platform.

There are multiple free games to play which earn bonuses. Additionally, the sportsbook offers a referral program where you and your friend receive $50 each.

The Fanduel sportsbook in Iowa offers up to $1000 risk-free first bet. If you lose your bet, you will receive betting credits. Other sign-on bonuses based on current events like bet $10 get $100 and bet $20 get $200.

Finally, we should mention that there is no loyalty program.

Cons

PointsBet Iowa Review

star9.8

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Catfish Bend
  • Available on: iOS, Android, web, retail
  • Legal states: CO, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ
  • What sets it apart: unique betting options

PointsBet is an Australian company that has entered a few US states, including Iowa. The company offers something unique in Iowa sports betting – a type of bet that no other sportsbook has. It’s called a “Pointsbetting” bet.

You determine the odds, and the more right you are, the more you win, but also, you lose more if you’re wrong. The company received special approval from the  Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission for this type of bet.

Additionally, the PointsBet is very creative with the promos such as the Karma Komittee or Name a Bet. There are many weekly parlays and other promotions to keep an eye on.

Make sure to join the rewards program, and possibly you will be invited to join the Platinum club. If you refer a friend, you both get $100, one of the more generous bonuses you will see in Iowa sports gambling. Your friend must deposit at least $50 to be eligible.

For the sign-on bonus, you get up to $500 risk-free first bet and up to $1500 risk-free in Pointsbetting wager.

In the end, we should warn you, the company is so creative with its promos and betting options that it can lead to some gambling problems.

Pros

  • + Points betting
  • + Creative and unique promos
  • + Rewards Program
  • + Partial cash out available

Cons

  • The many interactive bets can lead to huge losses

BetFred Iowa Sportsbook Review

star9.7

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Grand Falls
  • Available on: iOS, Android, retail
  • Legal states: CO, IA, NV, PA
  • What sets it apart: app simplicity

BetFred is one of the largest sportsbooks in the UK and has been around since 1967. The interesting name comes from one of the owners’ names – Fred Done.

The company entered the US market in Iowa first and has expanded online to four states. We expect to see BetFred grow even further in the US.

What we like about BetFred is the simplicity of its app. It’s effortless to navigate, and the interface is pleasing for customers without overwhelming them with information. Note that the company doesn’t offer online sports betting in Iowa, only retail and mobile app.

The company offers a 100% first bet match, up to $500. BetFred also has many in-play promotions and offers $40 just for joining.

In the end, we did notice that there is no option for using an e-wallet, making sports betting in Iowa more difficult.

Pros

  • + Many sports to bet on
  • + $40 just for joining
  • + Trusted global brand
  • + Great mobile app

Cons

  • Payment and deposit methods are lacking competitors
  • No e-wallet

BetRivers Iowa Review

star9.9

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Wild Rose Clinton and Jefferson
  • Available on: iOS, Android, web
  • Legal states: CO, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ, PA, VA, WV
  • What sets it apart: high-speed desktop site

Rivers Casinos operate the BetRivers sportsbook. The sportsbook is available in eight states online and physically in the company’s four casinos. BetRivers entered Iowa sports betting in 2021 and offers web and mobile wagering but no retail.

We liked the desktop site, which was easy to navigate and fast. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same about the app – it’s the lowest-rated one on the app stores and is slow.

Also, the rewards program is one of the best in the state. Like many, it’s based on the number of visits, but the dollars earned are higher than others. We also like the quick payouts, a feature many people are looking for.

BetRivers sports betting Iowa also offers a wide selection of promotions, which change daily or weekly. A popular promotion is the NFL futures bet, where you get a 25% bonus on future bets placed on Sundays.

The company offers a 100% match on your first bet regarding the sign-on bonus, up to $250.

Pros

  • + Great desktop website
  • + NFL Futures bonus
  • + Quick payouts
  • + One of the best rewards programs

Cons

  • The app could be improved

Elite SportsBook Iowa Review

star9.6

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Riverside and Rhythm City
  • Available on: iOS, Android, web, retail
  • Legal states: CO, IA
  • What sets it apart: progressive parlay

Iowa’s Elite Casinos operate Elite sportsbook. It’s available physically in two casinos and online in Iowa and Colorado. The company is planning to expand into Illinois and Nebraska as well.

What we like about the sportsbook is the progressive parlay. It’s like a regular parlay, but you can still miss a game and win. We also like the early cashout option.

Elite Sportsbook Iowa offers up to a $500 risk-free bet when it comes to the sign-on bonus. Sometimes, there is an additional sign-on bonus based on a specific event like the $100 deposit match on baseball we saw recently.

Finally, some improvements can be made to the site and app. As it’s relatively new, there are fewer sports and markets to bet on. The in-play section is missing live results and stats, something the more prominent Iowa sportsbooks thrive at.

Pros

  • + Iowa owned and operated
  • + Progressive parlay bonus
  • + In-play betting
  • + Early cashout option

Cons

  • Relatively new, so missing features such as in-play live updates, and fewer sports

theScore Iowa Review

star9.8

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Ameristar
  • Available on: iOS, Android
  • Legal states: CO, IN, IA, NJ
  • What sets it apart: news and information on the app

A relative newcomer to Iowa sports betting, the ScoreBet is only available mobile with no retail sportsbooks. It is operated by Score Media, a Canadian company specializing in sports news, results, stats, and of course, betting information.

A significant advantage of the ScoreBet is the amount of news and information the app offers. That gives its users a better understanding of the teams.

Also, the Iowa sportsbook has many changing specials, depending on what sports events are trending. Recently there were a few Olympics specials. We should mention that the ScoreBet has a whole section dedicated to in-play bets and bet tracking.

Another big plus is the sign-on bonus. The ScoreBet has not one but two offers. The first is a deposit match, up to $1,000, and the second is a $500 risk-free bet.

One thing to point out is unlike other companies in  Iowa sports betting, like FanDuel, there is no desktop site, only the app. The company doesn’t offer retail sportsbooks either.

On top of that, if you’re looking to bet outside traditional markets like the NFL, NBA, or MLB, there aren’t many options.

Pros

  • + Rotating sports specials
  • + Bet tracking
  • + Easy to navigate app
  • + Many betting types available

Cons

  • No desktop website, only an app

BallyBet Iowa Review

star9.6

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Grand Falls
  • Available on: iOS, Android, web
  • Legal states: CO, IA
  • What sets it apart: competitive bets

The newest company to get a license from the  Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission in June 2021. Bally’s corporation’s sportsbook is currently available in Colorado and Iowa only. In Iowa, the company operates only online betting, with no physical locations.

The parent company, Bally’s corporation, is a trusted name in gambling. It went through rebranding recently, and it’s on an expansion mission. The website and app are still a work in progress, with many features to be yet released.

We did like the easy navigation and user-friendly interface. Also, the company offers some of the most competitive wagers in Iowa sports betting. On top of that, there are trophies that players can play for in the app to earn rewards.

For a sign-on bonus, BallyBet offers a risk-free first bet, up to $550. Other promotions change constantly. We should not forget the loyalty program, through which players can earn more rewards.

Pros

  • + Trusted brand
  • + Easy to use the app
  • + Competitive bets
  • + Trophies that earn rewards

Cons

  • Still work in progress, many features are yet to be released

Hard Rock Sportsbook Iowa Review

star9.8

Key Features

  • Casino Partner: Hard Rock
  • Available on: iOS, Android, web, retail
  • Legal states: IA, NJ
  • What sets it apart: NFL promotions

The Hard Rock made its own Iowa sports betting app and sportsbook using the platform from Gaming Innovation Group.

The company is world-renowned for its casinos and cafes. It even recently signed a sponsorship deal with the world’s best and highest-paid soccer player, Leo Messi, to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Going back to the sportsbook, we like the speed of the app. There are a few promotions, such as free square pools, friend referral, and usually, it puts NFL promotions once the season starts.

The sign-on bonus is a $100 risk-free first bet, which we must say is lower than other sportsbooks, for example, DraftKings Iowa. Additionally, there is a rewards program that can be used to earn more bonuses.

We did not like the limited sports offerings and types of bets. Also, Hard Rock seems to focus more on casino-based promotions rather than its sportsbook.

Pros

  • + Loyalty program
  • + Free square pools for all sports
  • + User-friendly app
  • + Changing free contests

Cons

  • Limited sports and types of bets, and promotions

Q Sportsbook Iowa Review

star9.5

Key Features

  • Casino partner: Q Casino
  • Available on: iOS, Android, retail
  • Legal states: IA
  • What sets it apart: focused on local teams

The Q Casino uses its own sportsbook app and physically in its casino, but there is no website. Q sportsbook uses the IGT platform used in 16 states and is the biggest B2B platform in the US.

We can say that the Q sportsbook is the smallest one on the list, but it has its positives. First, it’s local and focuses on local sports, sometimes not found on national brands’ apps.

Also, the app’s design shows the trending and live sports right on your home screen,  rather than searching for them, like other Iowa sports betting companies.

In addition, there are many payment and withdrawal options, including an e-wallet and a rewards program that can be used with the sportsbook or the casino.

The big negative is the lack of promotions. It’s the only sportsbook that doesn’t offer a sign-on bonus, and there aren’t many other promotions available.

Pros

  • + Rewards program
  • + Heavy focus on local teams
  • + Constantly changing promos
  • + App prioritizes trending sports

Cons

  • The least amount of promos, including no sign-on bonus
