Game-Worn North Carolina Michael Jordan Basketball Jersey Sells For $1.38 Mil – OutKick

If you are into jersey collections, one of the most prized hoops jerseys on the market netted a whopping $1.38 million dollars recently, and of course it’s got to be the ‘Greatest’ jersey of a player who is considered one of the best of all-time.

The jersey belongs to Michael Jordan, and it was the 1982-83 season jersey he wore while in college at North Carolina when he took home the NCAA college hoops player of the year award.

The whopping sale broke the previous record for a Jordan jersey, when a game-worn Chicago Bulls Jordan jersey from the 1986-87 season sold for nearly half a million at $480,000.

The jersey of the Tar Heels was obtained back in 1983, 38 years ago, when equipment managers from Stanford and North Carolina swapped player jerseys after a game during the Stanford Invitational tournament at Maples Pavilion.

You can make the argument that the jersey has netted more money than any sports jersey in the history any sport.

The jersey sold for $63,500 in 1999, which was a record at the time, and now it will wind up getting a new dealer $480,000.

Jordan and jersey’s in particular have gained serious momentum over the last year, and prices for items like jerseys have gone through the roof.
