The Beavers have gotten another impact player through the transfer portal.
Minnesota defensive lineman Keonte Schad announced his intention to transfer to the Beavers Friday morning. He will have one more year of eligibility, having played the 2020 season as a senior.
As a part of the Golden Gophers defensive line rotation, Schad had 29 tackles and two and a half tackles for loss over two seasons.

After high school, Shad enrolled at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa where he recorded 48 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, one sack and recovered two fumbles as a freshman before recording 23 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and recovering two fumbles as a sophomore. Those performances led to him being ranked as four-star JUCO recruit by ESPN and the nation’s No. 2 JUCO defensive lineman. 247Sports gave him a three-star rating and the nation’s No. 3 JUCO defensive lineman in 2019.
He chose Minnesota over Boise State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia, among others.
The 6’3″, 295-pound lineman was an Academic All-Big Ten last season.
Schad projects to fill Jordan Whittley’s spot in the rotation after the oft-injured tackle entered the transfer portal this week. Whittley hadn’t played for the Beavers since 2019.
