The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens look for another win to build on their quick 2-0 record. Nolan Hnderson is completing 66.6 percent of his passes for 361 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Gene Coleman II and Thyrick Pitts have combined for 226 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Mateo Vandamia has two receptions. The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens ground game is averaging 158.5 yards per contest, and Dejoun Lee leads the way with 120 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Delaware is allowing 1.5 points and 192 yards per game. Johnny Buchanan leads the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens with 11 tackles, Matt Palmer has one sack and Joe Zubillaga has one interception.
The Rhode Island Rams also look for a victory here to build on their 2-0 record. Kasim Hill is completing 58.4 percent of his passes for 363 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Ivory Frimpong and Ed Lee have combined for 269 receiving yards and one touchdown while Matt Pires has two receptions. The Rhode Island Rams ground game is averaging 166.5 yards per contest, and Kev Brown Jr. leads the way with 189 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Rhode Island is allowing 23.5 points and 368.5 yards per game. And Johnson leads the Rhode Island Rams with 12 tackles, Evan Stewart has one sack and Coby Tippett has three interceptions.
The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens have been ridiculously impressive through their first two games, especially on the defensive side, and they’ve had an extra week to prepare given its game against New Hampshire was postponed. However, the Rhode Island Rams have been sharp in their own right, as they’ve had success offensively and they beat two decent teams in Villanova and Albany. Delaware should be favored and that defensive effort appears to be tough to bet against, but this feels like a lot of points to leave on the table with what looks like a respectable Rhode Island side.
I’ll take my chances with the Rams and the free points.
