If you somehow missed the news, it’s been a wild few days in Columbia centering on South Carolina president Bob Caslen.

During his commencement speech for the school of business graduates over the weekend, Caslen referred to the school as “California” in addition to being busted for plagiarizing a portion of his speech.

Caslen has since issued an apology for the oversight when he plagiarized a section of his commencement speech.

Now comes word from Andy Shain of The Post and Courier that Caslen offered to resign following his weekend missteps. According to Shain, South Carolina’s board chairman refused to accept Caslen’s resignation.

Caslen has been serving as South Carolina’s president since 2019. The decision to hire him was not exactly a popular one, as the school’s board hired Caslen following an 11-9 vote. There were also protests on campus following South Carolina’s decision to hire Caslen.
