Reece Udinski was having a great spring season for VMI this year before a torn ACL ended his campaign.

Udinski has been committed to Maryland as a transfer quarterback, but he was intent on playing his final season at VMI. He was playing great and off to a fantastic start before tearing his ACL at the end of March. Udinski threw for 1,082 yards on a career-best 71.5% completion percentage before his injury.

Fortunately, it sounds like Udinski should still be available for the Terrapins this fall. He discussed his rehab on Monday, and he indicated he expects to be 100% before the season rolls around:

“It’s going well. It’s been a month and a week since I had surgery. I feel better every day,” said Udinski according to 247 Sports. “That is my plan, 100 percent, to be ready by the fall.”

“The timeline is to play in the fall. The good thing is with quarterbacks, it’s already basically a no-contact situation in camp, so it kind of works out. By Game One, I expect to be 100 percent,” he said. “I arrive May 18th, It’s crazy. I don’t graduate from VMI until the 16th, so it’s a quick turnaround.”

It will be interesting to watch the quarterback battle at Maryland during fall camp, provided Udinski is fully cleared by that time. Taulia Tagovailoa will look to maintain the starting role for the Terrapins, but Udinski should provide a veteran presence and needed depth under center.
